Computer Driven...started out in a gargage back in the mid 80's... Nah! That's somebody elses story. In fact quite a few people's story... Hewlett Packard, Apple, Google and our own iiNet all started their IT lives operating out of a residential garage. Computer Driven? We started out back in the mid 80's also, but as programmers. Over time, one thing led to another, and we got involved in the hardware side of things. These days we only do programming when we become depressed and want to intensify the depression with deep frustration. Hardware, i.e. computer building and supply, is a much less frustrating occupation. We moved to Perth from Sydney back in the mid 90's due to family commitments and decided to open a computer business along the lines of the one we operated in Sydney. We decided to exclusively concentrate on the needs of small business with a range of hardware and networking solutions. Recently, having started to use Ubuntu Linux ourselves, we saw the possibility of supplying a low cost computer |
system based on this operating system. Unlike the software supplied by the commercial giant, Microsoft, Linnux is a faster and more secure platform. It is a virtual virus-free-zone due to its very nature. And the best part, apart from the fact that it just works and works very well, is that it is free. And so, while we charge for the hardware in our systems, you, the end-user, get a very stable and reliable system with top quality software at a reduced price. Yes, we still have our small business clientelle and we are involved in all of the usual stuff - setting up networks, computer repairs, removing computer viruses, and the list goes on. Computer Driven operates out of a home office and workshop which is central to Perth's Northern suburbs and shares the premises with a photographic studio which is operated by the lady of the house; quite an accomplished photographer, in business with our daughter (http://www.awomanstouch.biz). So the work week in this house is quite a family affair, and that's the way we like it.
